Department activities

The image analysis service offers various services, all of which are subject to our platform terms of use, including acceptance of the platform user charter.

Consulting services

Anyone can contact the platform (by e-mail, telephone or in person) to ask questions or request advice. An advice is a question about the correct use of a technique or software, and is differentiated from a service by the possibility of providing an immediate response (less than an hour). If a response is not possible, the platform's staff can ask for information from competent people in the field, or can direct the user to the various networks to which it belongs, or to appropriate R&D teams.

The response time to a request for advice depends on the number of requests received and does not imply any commitment on the part of the platform.

Setting up an analysis for the user does not constitute advice, but a service.

Advice does not give rise to invoicing, but like other offers on the platform, implies acceptance of the platform's terms of use.

Image analysis service

Image analysis services on the MicroPICell platform involve the development of an analysis approach, or software dedicated to a particular type of analysis, in response to a user's request for a specific project.

The user contacts the platform by e-mail, telephone or in person with his or her request, and a few exchanges are necessary to determine the exact requirements. A few sample images are given to the platform for feasibility tests and a time estimate. The request is then formulated by the platform with a deadline, an estimate linked to the number of hours of work (see pricing link), a description of the expected outputs and their format, the degree of automation of the software (identification of the parts of the analysis that will require user intervention) with the user, and precise instructions on the input images, and validated by the user. On return of the latter, signed by the team leader, the service is carried out. The deliverables may be an analysis protocol with existing tools, a script/program that can be used independently, data resulting from the analysis, up to the analysis of the data produced/statistical tests, accompanied by short documentation in the form of a material and method (1 page maximum, including papers to be quoted if relevant), and training in its use.Payment is made on delivery of the product, on issue of a statement of service.

Image analysis training courses

The user contacts the platform by e-mail, telephone or in person with his or her request. An appointment is made for individual training with images on the precise subject (possibility of 2/3 people working on the subject). Images may be requested in advance to prepare for the training. Individual training can follow on from a service. Individual training sessions are quoted separately or are included in the service quote.

The platform offers group training courses on specific subjects (with a limited number of places) on predefined dates broadcast on its website and by e-mail via the SFR* (mailing list). Participants register via an evento. A validation e-mail is sent to them, validating their registration. Following training, a certificate can be provided.

Provision of shared image analysis workstations

Image analysis workstations are available on reservation via Platform Manager. The list of software available on these stations is available here : Analysis software - Université de Nantes - Plate-forme MicroPICell (univ-nantes.fr). These stations are connected to the servers hosting user images, and to the extranet network. Availability is billed by the hour, and a statement of reservations is issued and sent to the user.
